  2. Purpose • Reinforce a positive climate • Strengthen the sense of community • Recognize individual student contributions, even the little ones

How will students (and teachers) know what the core values are? • Focus on one value per month • Training videos monthly through learning seminars • Viewing will rotate through learning seminars • Videos will provide explanations and examples of core values • Videos and follow up activities will be brief

  5. How does someone recognize a student? • A week before names for recognition are due an email reminder will be sent • Use the link in the email or the shortcut on your desktop to provide the student’s name and grade, your name, and a one or two sentence description of how that student demonstrated the value of the month • Sign your name and fill in the student’s name on the recognition certificate that has been placed in your box • Give the certificate to the student and tell them why you recognized them

So who do we recognize and what do they do with the certificate? • Any student that demonstrates a core value • Not necessarily likely to receive other accolades • Certificates used as pass to leave the last class of the day ten minutes early on the last Friday of the month and go to the cafeteria for a treat

Quick Recap • Recognize a different student every month • Recognize a struggling or often overlooked student • Remind students to share the certificate with parents • Be sure the student knows why you recognized them • Training activities and materials will be provided • Pick up a poster or window cling in the mailroom • Staff recognition
