People around the world begin supporting an Jewish state. • Jews continued to favor a division. • In 1947 the UN voted to partition (divide) Palestine into two states. Israel was established May 14th 1948. • Arabs were furious. Palestinians felt they should rule all of Palestine. • On May 15th 1948 troops from six Arab states invaded Israel. Israel won. 900,000 Palestinians fled the war zone. They have remained homeless ever since.
