  2. Water, Water, Everywhere! • Water is the most important resource we have. • It is the most abundant resource! • The amount of water on Earth now is the same as it was millions of years ago!! • Water is not created or destroyed, it cycles through.

  3. Moving Along… • Water moves in a cycle. • It changes states. • It moves in the troposphere and the surface of the Earth.

  4. Evaporation/Transpiration • Water gets into the atmosphere through evaporation. • Plants also release water vapor; this is called Transpiration.

  5. Condensation • Water vapor turns into very tiny water droplets. • The droplets combine and form clouds.

  6. Dew- forms when water vapor droplets gather on a hard surface. • Frost- forms when water vapor droplets freeze onto a surface.

  7. Precipitation • After the cloud forms, the water falls back to earth. • The temperature of the sky and clouds determines what type of precipitation falls. • Rain • Sleet • Snow • Hail • Freezing Rain

  8. Surface and Groundwater Flow • When precipitation falls to the surface, it tries to flow back to sea level. • If water falls too fast, it stays where it is until the ground absorbs it. (Surface water) • Water will sink into the ground and become groundwater.
