STATEWIDE RAIL MODERNIZATION PLAN • $900 Million for Southern California transit projects • LA Metro - $115 Million for Regional Connector in Downtown Los Angeles • Metrolink - $89 million for new or improved trains • San Diego MTS - $152 million to modernize Blue Line light rail • North County Transit District - $60 million for Positive Train Control
Southern California MOU • Earmarks $1B in HSR funds for early investment projects • Regional Projects, like LA Union Station Run-Thru Tracks • Grade seps, double tracking projects identified/prioritized in each county • Promotes interagency approach to develop blended system • Calls for a coordinated plan to identify and obtain funding
southern California action plan • Prioritize connectivity from Bakersfield into the Southern California Basin (Close the GAP, reach Metrolink) • Access funding • Complete EIR/EIS • Develop “Blended Approach” strategy with agencies • Conduct station area planning now • Implement “Early Investment” strategy with agencies • Coordinate with operators (Metrolink, Amtrak, Caltrans, BNSF etc.) to streamline schedules and connections to HSR • Continue EIR/EIS work on So Cal sections
