A composer and producer Andrew Lloyd Webber is the composer of The Likes of Us, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor® Dreamcoat, Jesus Christ Superstar, By Jeeves, Evita, Variations and Tell Me On A Sunday later combined as Song & Dance, Cats, Starlight Express, The Phantom of the Opera, Aspects of Love, Sunset Boulevard, Whistle Down the Wind, The Beautiful Game and The Woman in White.   3. A filmmaker In 2004 he produced a film version of The Phantom of the Opera directed by Joel Schumacher and in 2009 he will premiere Love Never Dies his sequel to The Phantom of the Opera which will be directed by the award-winning director Jack O'Brien.

A successful stage producer As well as many of his own shows his producer credits include Daisy Pulls It Off, Lend Me A Tenor, Shirley Valentine, La Bete, the ground-breaking Bollywood musical Bombay Dreams, his smash productions of The Sound of Music and The Wizard of Oz a the London Palladium.

  5. A pop culture icon In 2006 he oversaw a new production of Evita in London, a unique version of The Phantom of the Opera in Las Vegas and pioneered television casting with the hit BBC series How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria? that searched for a Maria in The Sound of Music. The series won an international Emmy. He repeated his success with Any Dream Will Dowhich cast the title role of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and later he cast the musical Oliver! for the BBC.

Numerous awards • His awards include seven Tonys, three Grammys including Best Contemporary Classical Composition for Requiem, seven Oliviers, a Golden Globe, an Oscar, two International Emmys, the PraemiumImperiale, the Richard Rodgers award for Excellence in Musical Theatre and the Kennedy Center Honor. • He currently owns seven London theatres including the Theatre Royal Drury Lane and the London Palladium. • He was knighted in 1992 and created an honorary life peer in 1997.

According to TIME MAGAZINE (4-9-13) Musical theater composer and impresario Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber, who wrote the music for such hits as Jesus Christ Superstar, Cats and Phantom of the Opera, is planning to adapt the 2003 comedy film, starring Jack Black as Finn, for the theater, the Guardian reported. In an interview with CBC Radio, Lloyd Webber let slip that he was “very excited” about acquiring the rights to “that movie School of Rock.” Lloyd Webber will go from Stephen Ward, a chamber musical about British politics in 1963 to “a musical about kids playing the guitar,” the Guardian noted.

Lloyd Webber studied at Magdalen College, Oxford, and at the Royal College of Music. While a student, he began collaborating with Timothy Rice who wrote the lyrics to Lloyd Webber’s music. Lloyd Webber was knighted in 1992, and in 1997 he was created a life peer.
