Students enter the world of a professional jazz musician through this intensive, 2 1/2-hour workshop where they will rehearse and record jazzy renditions of several Disney songs under the direction of a Disney teaching artist. Performers master specific techniques to maximize rehearsal time and execute a stellar performance as they: • Sight-read Disney music arrangements ranging from Grades 1.5 to 4 • Learn how critical timing is to all styles of jazz • Perfect attacks and releases using a jazz vocabulary • Fine-tune improvisation skills with proven tips and techniques • Discover the differences between swing, Latin and rock styles • Become more familiar with the blues, pentatonic scales and standard progressions • Discuss the requirements of a studio recording environment and what is expected of performers JAZZ IT UP WORKSHOP: Experience the excitement of a recording studio environment as a Disney clinician conducts your group through a rehearsal and recording session of classic Disney selections played jazz-style.
