AARC Leadership Institute AARC Board of Directors approved a proposed plan in July of 2008 for the establishment of an ongoing, quality continuing education program for respiratory care practitioners in the areas of education, research and management.

AARC Leadership Institute • Role of the Leadership Institute: • Provide educational resources for respiratory care practitioners ready for the next step in their career through advanced study. • Provide career guidance as well as professional mentorship. • Long term goal of course work being accepted by degree granting institutions.
AARC Leadership Institute • Role of the Leadership Institute: • A distance learning format will be used • Begin with a core of basic knowledge essential to success in any of the specialties of the Institute • Three specialty tracks: education, management and research.
AARC Leadership Institute By sharpening their skills in the areas of education, research and/or management, graduates will obtain a competitive edge over the trends and challenges facing health care practitioners today and in the future.

Core Curriculum • CCC 101: Introduction to Human Communication • CCC 102: Health Information Management and Informatics • CCC 103: Financial Planning and Budgeting Principles • CCC 104: Small Group Problem Solving and Decision Making • CCC 105: Basic Management Skills
Next Steps: • RFP Development: • Each participant in the Institute must initially complete the Core Curriculum before entering a specialty track. • RFP for development of the 5 Core Modules is underway and is available for review at: http://www.aarc.org/headlines/10/11/leadership_institute/ • 5 modules/7 competencies per module • Target completion date late January 2011
