  5. Did You Know? • The Okefenokee is the LARGEST swamp in North America? • The Seminoles gave it its name. • It’s name means “Land of Trembling Earth”. • Why do you think they gave it this name?

  6. Okefenokee Trivia The Okefenokee swamp used to be a part of the ocean when it covered Georgia a long time ago. Now, it contains fresh water.

  7. Quick Fact: How many islands does the Okefenokee have? Around 70 Let’s Look Closer… The Okefenokee has 4 land features: praries Hammocks (small clusters of trees) lakes islands
