  2. Kangaroo Climate Information • The kangaroo likes to live in the warm Australian desert climate. Kangaroos like to live in the Central, Southern, and Eastern Australia. The kangaroo likes it to be warm for the day and shady in the nighttime.

  3. Kangaroo Plant Life • Kangaroos like to eat grass and other green plants. Kangaroos like grassy areas so they can spend their time hopping on the grass. They are called Herbivores because they eat only grass and green plants. All night long they feed on grass.

  4. Kangaroo Water Sources • They live in dry scrublands, and open grasslands. Kangaroos need very little water. They can survive without water for months. Kangaroos get their water from rivers, creeks, and billabongs.

  5. Predators and Body Coverings • Kangaroos are very big so that only a few animals try to hunt healthy adult kangaroos. Young kangaroos have more enemies. Packs of dingoes watch for joeys that are away and alone. Wedge tail eagles are also predators. • The two main kinds of kangaroos are the red kangaroo and the gray kangaroo. They are body covering animals. The red kangaroo is covered in reddish brown fur. The gray kangaroo is covered in gray and white fur.

  6. Mountain Lion Climate Information • Very few mountain lions live in the desert because of the harsh, dry climate. Most desert animals stay in shady areas during the day. The desert is a hot dry place where mountain lions like to live and hunt.

  7. Mountain Lion Water Sources • A mountain lion gets it’s water from the desert oasis. About 10,000 gallons shoot up from the desert floor. This is where mountain lions get their water.

  8. Body Covering & Diet • Mountain Lions may be gray, reddish, and golden. Mountain lions have long soft fur. • At night they hunt for food, mostly deer and elk. Mountain lions eat white tailed deer, mule deer, moose, big horned sheep, rabbits, and wild hogs.

  9. Rattlesnake Climate Information • The desert has very dry climate because of all the harsh weather. The rattlesnake lives in dry climate.

  10. Rattlesnakes Learned Behavior • Rattlesnakes don’t always rattle before striking. They use their rattles to warn enemies to stay away.

  11. Water sources & Habitat • A rattlesnake gets it’s water from small ponds in the desert floor. About 10,000 gallons rush up in one minute. • Rattlesnakes live in grassy deserts and grasslands. They also live in mud homes to keep them safe from the heat.
