  3. American Heart Association and the CDC (Center for Disease Control)Research tells us • 30% of children and adolescents are overweight. • Obesity is 2nd only to tobacco use in preventable deaths.

  4. American Heart Association and the CDC (Center for Disease Control)Research tells us • From 1991 and 1999 percentage of students in daily phy. ed. dropped from 42% to 29% • 50% of youth do not engage in physical activity that promotes long term health.
