Why Focus on Female Drug Users? In recent years, harm reduction service providers across the world have noted a perplexing trend: even as the number of women drug users grows, their access to services remains decidedly low. How can we provide female drug users with the services they need? GTZ Training: Developing Services for Female Drug Users

The Training Structure • The general structure of the training follows the logic of assessment, trust-building, planning, implementation, and m&e • Variable modules may be selected according to the interests and needs of the participants • Special sessions focusing on the situation in Eastern Europe and Central Asia were developed by the Eurasian Harm Reduction Network (EHRN) and the Harm Reduction Knowledge Hub GTZ Training: Developing Services for Female Drug Users

Training Examples Pilot workshopwithUkrainianserviceproviders - Kiev, April 2009 12 drug experts from different regions of the Ukraine were trained on behalf of the GTZ HIV/AIDS Programme in Ukraine. Training workshop in Katmandu, September 2009 22 female service providers and peer outreach workers from different regions of Nepal were trained in cooperation with GTZ and Recovering Nepal, a national network of former drug users and Nepalese drug services.
