Discipline Plan Rules • In order to guarantee your child the excellent educational climate they deserve, we will not tolerate any students stopping another from learning. • Be respectful • Be responsible • Be safe Each teacher will have a variation of this discipline plan and expectations within their own classroom. Think Time • This is a school wide policy. When a student is struggling with appropriate behavior they receive one warning. If the behavior continues the student is sent to Think Time. They are sent to your student’s partner teacher for Think Time and they fill out a paper giving information about what happened and what they could have done differently in the situation. Students may be asked to call home.
Homework & Classwork • Students can expect up to 50 minutes of homework in addition to 20 minutes of reading on a regular basis. Homework may not be given everyday. • Students will be given an appropriate time to complete classwork at school. • If your student does not use time efficiently, classwork will be sent home to be completed in addition to homework • See individual teachers for their late work and absent policy Planners • Please see your student’s teacher for their planner procedures.
Grading Policy • Achievement grades are based on accumulated knowledge and skill accuracy and not collected on points.
Teacher Websites • Every teacher in our school has a website and we would love to have the parents use these websites as a reference for our classrooms. Just go to the school web page and click on your teachers name and it will pull up your teachers website. You can access the website of your student’s teacher for additional information about the teacher and their personal procedures for your student’s classroom. Become familiar with the website of your individual teacher to stay caught up on what is going on in your student’s classroom. • www.davis.k12.ut.us/148
Volunteers • Volunteers are gladly welcome in the classroom. • A volunteer should come ready to help the students in the classroom. Please do not bring other children with you during your volunteer time. • We really appreciate your help, if you can’t come at the time you signed up to volunteer, please let us know in advance. • Please see your student’s teacher for their volunteer sign up sheet. • Volunteer’s for the STAR reading program are greatly needed. If you are willing to be a part of this program, please let your student’s teacher know.
