Important Schedule Reminders • Our morning work begins at 7:30; please have your child to school on time. • Students will not be dismissed from school after 2:20. • Attendance is vital to success. We want our students at school each day unless they are ill.
Report Cards • Report cards will be will be sent home every 9 weeks. • Progress Reports will be sent home half way in the 9 week period. Distribution Dates for Progress Reports and Report Cards
DisciplineKent Character Traits • Weekly Behavior Log (Attachment A) • Please sign this every Tuesday. • Conduct grades are based on the Behavior Log.
Homework • Weekly Reading Log (Attachment B) Students are provided a Weekly Reading Log. They are expected read a minimum of 100 minutes each week. The log is signed by a parent and turned in each Monday for a weekly reading grade. • Reading - will be assigned for homework on Tuesday and Thursday. • Spelling—Please check assignment planners for spelling homework Monday-Thursday
Homework Cont. • Weekly Geography This can be worked on at school after classroom assignments are finished or at home. Students will use computers, maps, an atlas, and other sources to complete the Weekly Geography page. More than one source is often needed to find all of the answers. • Weekly Geography is due each Friday. • Math- will be assigned by the math teacher on Monday and Wednesday nights.
Helpful Homework Tips • Ask your child questions before, during, and after they read. This will help build comprehension skills. • Access the program’s website at : http://investigations.terc.edu/families/
Assignment Planners • Important: We use our assignment planners each day. They are a great communication tool. Homework other than Weekly Geography and the Reading Log will be recorded in the assignment planner.
Assignment Planners Cont. • At this time, assignment planners do not need to be signed daily. • If a student is having difficulty completing assignments, or parents feel a daily signature helps their child stay on track, a routine of daily signatures can be added. • Please discuss any questions with your child’s homeroom teacher.
Late Work • After the third day, students who do not have a classroom assignment complete will have their folder signed for effort. • If a student does not turn in a homework assignment on the day that it is due the student will have their planner signed for effort.
