JCAHO Activities To Date • Collaboration with National Association of Psychiatric Health Systems (NAPHS), National Association of State Mental health Program Directors (NASMHPD) and The NASMHPD Research Institute, Inc. (NRI) • Initial stakeholder meeting early 2004 to identify potential domains for measure set • Appointment of HBIPS Expert Panel in March 2005 • First Panel meeting May 2005 to establish a measurement framework and potential candidate evidence- based measures 2005 - JCAHO

Core Measures(Definition) • Standardized sets of performance measures (usually disease, condition-specific or setting) • Precisely defined specifications • Can be uniformly embedded/adopted in extant systems • Standardized data collection protocols • Meet established evaluation criteria 2005 - JCAHO

  5. Core Measure SetDefinition • A unique grouping of performance measures carefully selected to provide, when viewed together, a robust picture of the care provided in HBIPS care. 2005- JCAHO

Measure IdentificationProcess • Advisory panels establish measurement framework and potential candidate evidence- based measures • Identify/ Call for measures • Stakeholder engagement/ Public comment period • Advisory panels select measures that meet established evaluation criteria 2005 - JCAHO
