Flexible Learning project • LTI Flexible learning team (Jon Alltree), Karen Mills,Dominic Bygate, Fang Lou • Purpose • To give students greater choice in when and where they study • To enhance learning • To develop digital literacy and prepare for life-long learning • Focus • Academic staff • Curriculum design • DIY/DIWM fit-for-purpose resources
Flexible Learning project • Supporting local/School champions and their strategies • Workshops, advice and resources relating to: • Curriculum design • Enhancing directed independent learning • How to choose and use each technology
Flexible Learning – Core technologies StudyNet – MLE with wide-ranging communication, administrative, learning resource and learning activity functions Audacity – creating and editing audio files eg podcasts for information, access and language purposes Connect – virtual classroom technology with a record function eg lectures, group work, tutorials Camtasia 7 – screen capture software eg videos of computer use and narrated presentations Moviemaker – editing videos eg trimming, joining and enhancing videos

The ITEAM Project An institutional wide approach to providing a range of in- and out- of-class technologies that enhance assessment and feedback opportunities for all students Part of the JISC Assessment and Feedback programme. 1 of 8 national ‘Strand A’ projects
ITEAM- 4 components Electronic Voting Systems (EVS) • Facilitating in-class testing • Increasing student engagement • Checking understanding • Giving prompt feedback • Encouraging active learning • Giving less confident / articulate students a classroom voice Online submission and feedback • Facilitating efficient submission • Promoting high quality feedback
ITEAM- 4 components Question Mark Perception (QMP): • Facilitating out-of-class testing • Increasing student engagement • Checking understanding • Giving prompt feedback • Improving assessment efficiency Student Progress Dashboard: • Pulling together student engagement and performance information for students and teachers
