What will it look like? • 4 new shops with specialized equipment • 2 new high tech teaching classrooms with video conference capabilities • 100 plus spaces for students each semester
Why A Trades Centre?$7.6 Million • Major trades shortages • The B.C. Government is seeking a 50 % increase in the number of students going directly into trades and technical training after graduation from 4,000 to 6,000 over the next three years (2012-2013 - 60,875 grade 12s) • Improve graduation completion rates • Up to 600,000 trades shortages by 2020 in Canada

4 - Pre-Tech Sampler courses (120 hourseach) to introduce students to Civil Engineering as a diploma or degree program • Civil Engineering Concepts • Civil Engineering Concepts II • Construction Management • Intro to Structural Analysis -Statics

Mining Technology 3 – BCIT dual credit courses • Introduction to the Minerals Industry, Mine 1100 - grade 11 • Physical Geography, Mine 1101- grade 12 • Environmental Applications, Mine 2106 –grade 12 1 - Resume Certification course in Mining and Oil
Resume Certification Program 4 Courses, 13-18 Certifications: • Employment skills and Work Place Safety Certification • Equipment Certification • Industry Certification for Oil and Mining • Construction and Forestry Certification
Resume Certification Program Who should take this program? Students who: • Want to enhance resumes for work • Want to re-enter school to graduate • Prefer hands-on courses • Want to prepare for the trades or commercial transport program
Commercial Driver Training 5 courses: • 1 - Introductory elective Level 1 • 4 - Grade 11-12 courses offered as a program • Program length - 1 Semester for students successfully SCREENED into the program • Developed with the BC Trucking Association and industry partners

BC School Sports Students who attend an educational program that is not offered in their own school may continue to play on their home-school sports team. This only applies to the Trades and Technology education programs at NorKam.
One Semester Bring a friend! • Most programs = one semester • Students attend for 5 months then return to their home school to graduate!
Transportation No transportation for specialty programs in SD 73 Families are responsible for transportation to NorKam for the semester Kamloops city bus pass costs $100 for 4 months
