  1. The vikings By Muttasimislam and Nomanditta

  2. Viking food • Most Vikings were farmers and spent a lot of time working in their fields. They grew corn and kept cattle, sheep, goats, pigs and chickens.

  3. VIKING LONGSHIPS • They had two types of ships. The longship was the common one. It is over 30m long but only 6m wide. The shipbuilders tried to make their ships beautiful as possible. On windy days they would put up the big sail but the wind has got to be behind the ship. The longship was fast used by Vikings when they wished to attack other people.

  4. VIKING CLOTHES • Viking women wore a long linen dress. It could be either plain or pleated. Over the dress they wore a long woolen tunic, a little like an apron. It was held up by a pair of brooches, sometimes joined by a chain or string of beads. Over the tunic she might wear a shawl. Her legs and feet were covered with thick woolly socks and soft leather shoes.

  5. VIKING WEAPONS • Laws of the late Viking period show that all free men were expected to own weapons, and magnates were expected to provide them for their men. The main offensive weapons were the spear, sword and battle-axe, although bows and arrows and other missiles were also used. Weapons were carried not just for battle, but also as symbols of their owners' status and wealth. They were therefore often finely decorated with inlays, twisted wire and other adornments in silver copper and bronze
