  1. Status ReportRenewable Resources ScenarioSGG-WI Planning Work Group Meeting September 5th 2002 John Nielsen Land and Water Fund

  2. Draft SSG-WI Renewable Energy Development Scenario • Scenario based on preliminary estimates of renewable energy capacity additions for Interior West Clean Energy Plan being developed by Land and Water Fund • Geographic distribution of resources based on resource information from Renewable Energy Atlas of the West and input from renewable energy developers. • Scenario designed to lead to roughly 20% renewable energy generation in the WECC by 2020 with a diverse mix of renewable resources while at the same time limiting any cost premium of the overall renewable resource mix to no more than about 1 cent/kWh (assuming natural gas prices in the $2-3/mmbtu range)

  3. Next Steps • Feedback on scenario from IWCEP Advisory Committee and make any necessary refinements • Refine level of geographic detail to sub-state area level • Work with SSG-WI transmission planners to identify specific injection points as needed • Develop representative hourly production profiles by month for each resource – wind, solar particularly • Confer with colleagues in California, PNW for reality check on resource amounts in those regions
