  8. STUDENT WORK SAMPLES • See Portfolio!

  9. SITE VISITS • Diane visited our school – admittedly she saw more of the halls than the classrooms, but we engaged in meaningful dialogue about our needs. We even caught up on some personal concerns . . . our children! PHOTO NOT AVAILABLE

  10. BENEFITS • We became more knowledgeable Students Parents Faculty • We improved colaboration among faculty and administration;

  11. We aided the parish in their parish-wide correlation; • We learned what EPAS had to offer; • The students and faculty gained an understanding of the scores, and were able to interpret scores.

  12. CHALLENGES • Getting the word out to the faculty, students, parents, and administrators; • Maintaining EPAS standards; • Raising ACT scores; • Changing our old methods of teaching.

  13. FUTURE GOALS • Continue our mission – increasing test scores and TOP eligible students; • Making the importance of EPAS “second nature” to all!

  14. FINAL REFLECTIONS • Who would have “thunk it?” We made it! We have just completed a very stressful year that was made even more so by the advent of the much touted comprehensive curriculum. Then, there was EPAS. The stress level went up, up, up! We faced yet another innovation. PLEASE!!

  15. The team was sent from the Lake Providence Senior High. We came, we saw, we hoped to conquer, and we did. We were more than adequately prepared to share what we have learned and experienced at our workshops. We felt like the Apostles must have. We could spread the word that with EPAS our Plan and ACT scores would be better.

  16. The challenge was to make the others believe it, too. The faculty and staff would have to buy into the program if it were to affect the kinds of changes we anticipated. We planned, we workshopped (our new word) and we believed. The belief grew. Most of the faculty came on board and the EPAS Standard were far more than we expected. Even some of the non-believers - believed. The teachers and our children could and would be better able to predict and do what was needed to improve our ACT, GEE, and Plan Scores.

  17. We now face the future with hopeful anticipation that our school will continue to use the EPAS Standards of Transitions. They do work. Teachers will use them, and students will benefit from them. Recalling the words to a once popular tune, “I don’t know where this road is going to lead to. All I know is where we’ve been and what we’ve been through and if it gets us through tomorrow; I know it’s worth all the pain. It’s so hard to say good-bye to yesterday.”

  18. So let’s not say good-bye, we will let the next team take what we’ve started and continue to collaborate, cultivate, and celebrate the success of our schools and most of all, our students.

  19. LEGEND OF THE BUTTERFLY~Once as a child many years ago...on a balmy summer's eve.I sat in the yard at my Mother's side...and a butterfly lit at my sleeve. "It's a sign of good luck", my Mother said.As the butterfly stayed at my arm..."It's a symbol of all the beauty in life.Make sure you do it no harm." First butterflies are eggs and after they hatch...they see that their life's just beginning.They're content with their lot in life,so, they go out on a limb and start spinning. They stay out awhile in a magic cocoon...then emerge like flowers in spring.Then they share the story of their victory andsuccess...through each of the colors of their wings. The gold in their wings is the"Golden Rule"...To follow that is a must.The blue...that means true blue.Always be someone people can trust.The green of the tip of their wingis saying Stay green, and you'll always grow.The silver is the lining in the clouds of doubt...that you must look for as you go through life.Butterflies bend with the wind, it's true.Still they get where they want to go.The arrive by persistence through their owninsistence...A lesson more people should know.Sought and valued by the whole human race...For their beauty, tenacity and charm.If a butterfly ever chances to stay at your sleeve...learn all you can from the butterfly clan.And you too, may become a rare item.~~Author Unknown Adieu to the Butterfly
