Clary- Is a typical 15 year old girl who thinks she is a mundane (regular human) but is really a shadow hunter. • Simon- Clary’s mundane best friend who is secretly in love with her. • Jocelyn- Clary’s mother who is also a shadow hunter in ‘the circle’ & keeps Clary’s life hidden from her. • Luke- Jocelyn’s best friend who was also in the circle then turned into a warewolf. • Jace- Good looking shadow hunter who is an orphan. He likes fighting and starting trouble but has a soft side. • Isabelle- A beautiful shadow hunter, and Alex’ sister. • Alex- A shy shadow hunter, Isabelle’s brother and he’s secretly in love with Jace. • Hodge- Jace, Alex, and Isabelle’s shadow hunter processer. He was also in the circle. • Valentine- Evil shadow hunter who controls the circle. He was once married Jocelyn, and is Clary’s father. Characters:

  3. I think the authors choice for the characters was a very good one, their looks fit their personalities. Also they have very different life styles but they all have a lot in common. I especially like the twists she makes with them towards the end. I can honestly say that I wouldn’t change anything about the way she wrote the characters. My opinion on the characters

  4. This story takes place present day in New York City. I think this is a great place to for this type of story to take place. Setting

  5. I don’t think there was a specific tone for this story. With every character they all had different tones throughout the story as they dealt with what was happening. The ones that I saw most was upset, tension, and mislead.

  6. A lot of people could think different themes for this story and might disagree with my opinion on the theme but I feel like the Cassandra tried to make the theme about reality. You can never be too sure about your reality until you get a huge reality check. This is what happened to Clary through out the whole book. Theme:

  7. Clary goes with Simon to one of his band members poetry reading after she got in a big argument with her mom because Jocelyn wanted to leave the town out of the blue. While she is out, Clary gets a strange call from her mom & was attacked & taken by a demon. Clary runs into a group of teens who are shocked that Clary is able to see them, later on she finds out she’s just like them & her whole life is a lie. Cassandra did a good job with the plot of the stories & what she chose for the main events. The thing I didn’t like the most was that too much happened all at once & if Clary didn’t know anything related to the shadow hunter world she wouldn’t have reacted they way she did. Plot:
