Supporting children with SMS to develop Could biochemistry reduce the significant challenges faced by SMS children and their families?
Pfeiffer Institute Illinois USA • 2005 Sophie’s biochemistry was investigated by Bill Walsh of Pfeiffer. • Findings: severe oxidative stress in brain & central nervous system • Copper to Zinc ratio of 1: 1.85 (1:1) • Pyroles 51.5 ( normal range 5 to 10 ) • Manganese also very high
How do these effect us? • High levels of Pyroles lead to increased anxiety, increase displays of temper and “melt downs” • High levels of Manganese cause damage to the nerves & nervous system. They can lead to degenerative neurological disorders
Effects of abnormal biochemistry • Copper to Zinc Ratio : this should be close to 1:1. If it is not many things in the body do not work well. • Production of enzymes is not optimal Therefore many of the bodies systems don’t work well. Low level of Zinc makes us much more prone to infection.
What can we do to help? • Pfeiffer visit Australia once a year. They are training doctors in their area of expertise which is autism. • There are about 20 doctors now familiar with the Pfeiffer Protocol. • Bio-Balance Health Association Inc • biobalance@optusnet.com.au organise • visits by Bill Walsh from Pfeiffer.
Bio-Balance Health Association Inc • Po Box 7795 Gold Coast Mail 4217 • Pfeiffer’s website is • www.hriptc.org they should be able to supply names of Australian Doctors. • Dr Antony Underwood is Sophie’s paediatrician Ph 02 9418 1388
Pfeiffer advised strongly against giving SMS children vitamin/ mineral supplements without first assessing their biochemistry. • We can unwittingly make health issues • worse for them. • Sophie has a blood test once a year. • Pfeiffer look at it and make up a script which is made up by a Compounding Pharmacist locally. • The aim is to get her biochemistry within the “normal” range.
How has life changed for Sophie since seeing a biochemist ? • Life has improved markedly for the better. • Infections reduced very markedly. • Behaviour has improved out of site! • She is more alert. • She is learning more quickly. • Meltdowns which were very regular have disappeared. • She is happier and her mum is less stressed!
