  8. Feudalism 2. Lords: Pledge loyalty to monarch and military support if needed -granted an estate -owned land, reived income -collected taxes -maintained order -enforced laws -protected serfs

  9. Feudalism 3. Knights: warriors trained to fight on horseback **Chivalry: code of behavior: -deep faith -ready to die for church -gave to all -stand against injustices

  12. Manor System • Four Main Parts: • Manor House: Lord’s home and serfs village • Farm Land • Meadow Land • Waste Land
