  2. Bio • Born October 16, 1977 • Born Bridgeport, Connecticut • Raised in Fairfield • Middle of three children • Singer, songwriter, producer • Instruments: guitar, vocals, ominchor, piano, vibraphone, harmonica, percussion

Education • Mayer considered not going to college to pursue his music, but the disapproval of his parents made him go. • He was enrolled in the Berklee College of Music, but dropped out after two semesters and moved with his college friend Cook to Atlanta and started a two-man band called LoFi Masters.

  4. Guitar • His love for the guitar came from watching Marty McFly’s(Michael J. Fox) guitar performance in Back to the future. • He was thirteen when he first started to learn how to play the guitar. • His greatest influences were Jimi Hendrix, Sting and Stevie Ray Vaughn.

  5. Songwriter • At the age of a17 Mayer was diagnosed with cardiac dysthythmia and was hospitalized for a weekend. At that moment Mayer said “That was the moment the songwriter in me was born”. • In 2008 Mayer gave a lecture at Berklee about songwriting. He told the students that a good song requires a good foundation.
