WHAT IS THE INTERNATIONAL THESPIAN SOCIETY? • The International Thespian Society (ITS), an honorary group for middle and high school theatre students, is a division of the Educational Theatre Association (EdTA). The mission of ITS is to honor student excellence in the theatre arts. Thespian troupes are just a component of a school’s theatre program. ITS membership offers many valuable benefits, services, and opportunities to students and teachers committed to a well-rounded education. Performing Arts students perform better over-all, and the skills acquired by the students transfer into each and every possible career and life experience. Colleges and Universities also recognize the extra commitment made outside of important academic classes, and look at these participants as better equipped to balance college life. • A student can become a part of ITS by earning ten ITS points. • Points are earned by participating and performing in various CHS drama events. These can include, but are not limited to: being cast in a show, working crew for a show, attending and/or performing in District IE or One Act Events. Performing or working crew for the Showcase. Performing at and/or attending the Florida State Thespian Conference. 10 hours of work generally equals 1 point.
