Course Title (1):Homewood BME Design Associates- BME Design Team • Longitudinal teams: freshmen-seniors • Team leaders are seniors: competitive process for selection • Required for ½ freshmen BMEs • Work with upperclassmen on ‘fun’ projects • e.g. Amusement park with Holter monitor • Industrial contacts provide design projects • Project proposals are written for customer. Course Title (2):BME in the Real World • Seminar style course • Speakers from large companies (Merck, DuPont, Medtronic, Abiomed (implantable artificial heart)), as well as small companies • Speakers once/week Spring semester • 1/3 of speakers have their own companies • Students network with speakers after presentation Johns Hopkins University
Course Title (3):Honors Instrumentation Course • Continuation of basic instrumentation course in the Fall • Work on projects with clinical significance/relevance • Work proposed by the students Johns Hopkins University
