2. Phnom Penh • It is the capital city, and is the largest in Cambodia. • It is located where the two major rivers meet. • Phnom means “Hill”. • It was found in the 14th century. • The image in background is the Independence Monument, made when Cambodia was released from foreign rule in 1958. 3. Sihanoukville • Named after King Sihanouk. • Tourists go there for it’s beaches. • Located in the Preah Sihanouk province. • It has the only deep water port in the country. Location of Sihanoukville (in red)

4. Siem reap • This is where the biggest and most famous temple, Angkor Wat is located. • Siem Reap used to be the capital. • It is now a very popular tourist destination. • The name, Siem Reap, means “Flat defeat of Siam”. Siam being Thailand. Location of Siem Reap

Battambang • Battambang is the second most populated city in Cambodia. • Near the city, there is a place called Phnom Sampeu, which were killing caves used by the Khmer Rouge. • It is known for it’s statues scattered around the city, usually of mythical and real animals. • A famous statue is the Kranhoung Stick King. Kampong Cham • Kampong Cham is the Capital of the Kampong Cham Province in the east side of Cambodia. • Kampong Cham is the third largest city in Cambodia. • It is located on the Mekong River. • Home to Nokor Wat, an Angkorian temple. They have many traditional dances like Apsara. Location of Kampong Cham province
