What Is A Flood? A flood is an overflow of water that the grounds can’t hold. How do floods start? Usually a flood starts by an unusual amount of rain water that overflows a river, lake, or a ocean’s bay. That’s why it may be dangerous to live by a body of water.
Huge Floods One of U.S.A’s worst floods was JOHNSTOWN FLOOD on May 31, 1889. Over 2,200 people died from this flood. It started because of a dam on a lake broke.
