Objectives • State tips to make activity part of your lifestyle • Determine if you are ready to change. • Practice exercises you can do at home.
Changing your lifestyle • Change can be hard. • You need support from family and friends • Are you excited to start exercising or still feeling a little resistant? • It’s OK. Make the change when you are ready, until then, start small.
Barriers to Activity • Who enjoyed their activities last week? • Did anyone feel “tired” and skip exercise? • Did anyone “not get around to it”?
Motivation • What feelings did you get after or during your activity? • Encourage others. • Keep track and reward yourself for a job well done….NOT with food, of course • New song from itunes • Steam bath/oils • Time to laugh and joke with friends
Ultimate Goal • We want to prevent illness and disease • We want to keep our bodies healthy • We want our heart to stay healthy • We want to live a long, healthy, high quality life • We want to be around for our loved ones.
Ultimate Goal • Help you do and continue to enjoy the things you want to do. • Improve your balance to prevent injury. • Help feelings of depression and brighten your mood.
5 minute walking warm up Stand on one foot – each leg Heel to toe walk Back leg raise Side leg raise Knee curl Balance walk Cardio – fast walking or jogging in place Cool Down Let’s MOVE!
