The history of Ebola In 1997, Ebola first emerged in Sudan and Zaire Ebola was named after the Ebola River in Zaire The first outbreak infected 284 people with a mortality rate of 53% Second Ebola virus emerged from Yambuku, Zaire with a mortality rate 88% Third outbreak was identified in 1989 when infected monkeys were imported into Reston, VA Last strand was found in 1994 when a female ethologist was infected when performing a necropsy on a chimpanzee

  3. Who is most susceptible to Ebola? Those who are around fruit-eating bats and monkeys Those who live in Uganda Canadian scientists found that Ebola could be transmitted without direct contact by pigs

  4. Current Research on Ebola Scientists are currently studying additional diagnostic tools to assist in early diagnosis of Ebola They are also researching ecological investigations
