What is Young Adulthood? • By virtue of the fact that you are now in the fifth grade or higher you are considered as a young adult • With this new status, comes added responsibility • You must be prepared for all classes and assignments
Young Adulthood • You must learn how to budget your time between classroom, homework, chores, functions at school and elsewhere • You must learn that all people are different, have different values, backgrounds, race, religious beliefs, learning styles, and personalities
Young Adulthood • You must learn to tolerate and celebrate these differences • If you shoulder this added responsibility and develop this tolerance, you will in turn be treated as a young adult by this teacher
Can I do other class work in the resource room? • The state of Missouri has given this teacher, by law, a certain amount of time to instruct you in content areas in the resource room • That being said, if another regular classroom teacher has requested that you do other work than resources, yes you may do it with permission
Can I get help with work from my other classes? • If all your work is completed in a content area resource class then you may ask the paraprofessionals or teacher for help in other work…
What happens if you forget to put your name on your paper? • No Credit • Get in the habit of putting your name on your paper each time
What must you put on ALL assignments from the textbook? • Page of the textbook the assignment is on • and • Your name
What makes an assignment unacceptable to hand in? • Drawings that were not assigned • Doodles • Scratch marks • Or any unnecessary marks of any kind
What about messy assignments? • Handed back to be done over (DO)
What about assignments that are done to fast? • Handed back to be done over (DO)
What about torn papers? • Hand back to be done over (DO)
Where can I find my assignments everyday? • Open up your lap tops to the internet • Type in Wellsville Middletown R1 • Go to the WMR1 Homepage • Click on JHSH or ELEM • Fine Resource and click on Larry Madsen • Click on Lesson Plans for Classes • Click on Your Class Title
What areas are off limits to student in this classroom? • Teacher’s desk • Paraprofessional’s desk • Filing cabinets • Lap top computer storage cabinet • UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES IS A STUDENT TO GET IN A TEACHER’S OR PARAPROFESSIONAL’S DESK • Permission in writing must be obtained before using lap tops
Where are math calculators and manipulatives? • Top right and left hand drawers of the black credenza • You may get them yourself with permission
Where are the colored pencils stored? • On top of gray credenza in cups • You may get them with permission yourself
What should I do with any free time I have? • You may work on other subjects • READ a library book
What do I need to bring to class each day? You will need to bring two sharpened pencils with an eraser • I will provide notebook paper, stapler, staples, staple remover, hole punch, colored pencils, notebook paper, protractors, calculators, compasses, Germ X and Kleenex • We will not use INK in any of our assignments or mechanical pencils
Where do I put my paper trash? • In the recycle box
Where do I put my trash? • Small white trash can
How do we use lap tops? • Lap tops are used solely for educational purposes • You must have proper authorization on file
