  18. Four Main Systems • There are four main systems that we study in Earth Science • Each System is interdependent on each other • 1) Lithosphere • 2) Hydrosphere • 3) Atmosphere • 4) Biosphere

  20. Lithosphere • Its the outer shell of the Earth • crust and upper part of mantle that is rigid • the squishy part of the mantle is the asthenosphere

  22. Hydrosphere • The water in Earth’s lakes, oceans, rivers and glaciers • 97% of the Earth’s water is saltwater • 3% Freshwater

  24. Atmosphere • Blanket of gas that surrounds our planet • 78% Nitrogen and 21% Oxygen • 1% other random gasses and water vapor
