  1. How Tall Can You Grow? Henry Weiner

  2. Problem • How often should you water so that you can grow bean plants from seed?

  3. Hypothesis • I predict that watering every six days will work best to produce a healthy bean plant from seed.

  4. Materials • Green bean seeds • Liquid measuring cup with 1/8 cup markings • Pots to plant seeds in • Drill to drill holes in bottom of pot • Catch pan • Ruler with metric system • Water out of the tap • Sunlight • Potting soil

Procedure • Gather all materials. • Use drill to drill three holes 3/8 inch in diameter. • Plant 3 seeds in each cup in soil about 1 inch under the surface. • Put cups in catch pan to catch runoff. • Water all of the plants with their respective times of watering • Water with the watering schedule • Measure every day with centimeters. • Record on spreadsheet. • Continue for 2 weeks. • At end of experiment, make graphs.

  7. More Results • Plants 4 and 5 didn’t grow. Plant 1 was watered everyday; Plant 2 every 2 days, and so on.

  8. Conclusion • My hypothesis was incorrect. I predicted that the trend would go from plant 6 to plant 1. However, there was no trend in the data. Plant 6 grew first, but then plant 1 grew, causing it to have no trend.
