Project Specification • Digital Mastermind is a game that enables the user to guess a combination of four decimal digits, translated into four binary bits • Output shows a series of lighted bulbs each signifying a combination of correct number and position of the keyed guesses.
LEDs Blue:correct position and number Green: correct number, wrong position Game Interface Nine Numbers: Four Reference Inputs Four Guess Inputs
Parts of the Circuit • Input • Comparator • Output
Input • Schematic of Input to Memory • Electronic WorkBench EWB Simulation • To simulate please press space once then B twice then put to low one of your inputs, press space, twice B, then input. Repeat last two steps until the last LED in the Serial-in-Parallel-out is lighted. • First four inputs are for the Reference code • Last four inputs are for the Guess code • This simulation should be done with an EWB Software • Open File input2memory.ewb • Aissa’s Writeup • Jun’s Writeup Back

Comparator • Schematic of Comparator • EWB Simulation • Given the Reference input 0 (1111), 2 (1011), 8 (1110), 4 (1101). Inputs refer to the truth table of 74LS147 • Given the Guess input 2 (1011), 2 (1011), 8 (1110), 7 (0001). • Press 1 twice then if LED lights up, the two numbers compared at that time are different. • To finish all 16 comparisons, press 1 twice until all LEDs in the binary counter outputs light up. • Open file comparator.ewb • Erika’s Writeup Back

Output • Schematic of Serial to Parallel Output • EWB Simulation • Press C twice and then 1 twice • Repeat until the binary counter reaches its maximum count (Don’t Forget to Press CC after this!) • Blue LED correspond to right number, right position • Green LED correspond to right number, wrong position • For the given code(see comparator) the output has two blue LEDs lighted up. • Open File comparator2output.ewb • Yammy’s Writeup
