1. Making Slideshows with iMovie (then Creating a DVD) using only still Photos • Collect the pictures you want to use (from a file folder or iPhoto Events) -- • make’em pretty with Photoshop, or later in iPhoto 2. Put them into a new iPhoto Album (name it) 3. Open a new iMovie Project, and a New Event in iMovie (name them) 4. Import the pictures into iMovie, from the iPhoto Album 5. Choose the timing, transitions, and music for the slideshow 6. Convert it to a DVD by Keith Thomassen

2. Collect the pictures you want to use (from a file folder or iPhoto Events) -- • make’em pretty with Photoshop, or later in iPhoto Full Screen Mode (Esc to go back) Pictures in a Folder Events in iPhoto (each event has many photos) You can drag Events into Albums

3. 2. Put them into a new iPhoto Album (name it) Create a New Album name it “Teton Glacier” Drag the Teton Glacier Picture Folder into this space

4. 2. Put them into a new iPhoto Album (name it) Delete, add, and rearrange photos on this screen

5. 3. Open a new iMovie Project, and a New Event in iMovie (name them)

6. 3. Open a new iMovie Project, and a New Event in iMovie (name them) Name it Teton Glacier

7. 4. Import the pictures into iMovie, from the iPhoto Album Drag pictures into workspace (add movies here too) Click on camera symbol to see (and drag) photos in your iPhoto Albums and Events

Import the pictures into iMovie, from the iPhoto Album Drag pictures from lower right panel to upper left panel (workspace) Click on a picture to view it here Pull down list of iPhoto entries To highlight all pictures, click on the first one, then hold down the shift key and click on the last one

9. Marker (drag through items to see them on screen right) Play full screen Play here close All pictures into workspace Sliders adjust thumbnail sizes

10. 5. Choose the timing, transitions, and music for the slideshow Transition ½ sec, Photos 6 sec, choose Ken Burns effect, and Fit in Frame. All can be adjusted on individual photos in the workspace.

11. The Ken Burns Effect (Gives a sense of motion to stills) Click on a photo, click on down arrow next to gear, make Ken Burns choice Adjust start (green) and end (red) areas

12. Adjust Timing Click on a photo, click on down arrow next to gear, make Clip Adjustments choice Adjust Duration Also use the Inspector button to adjust clip Change Transition

13. Add Music Click on Music Drag to workspace If entire area lights up in green, undo it. Make sure you get the bar underneath You can drag the music bar forward and backwards from the ends

14. Add More sound Choose another category (than iTunes)

15. Add Maps, Backgrounds Select Map button Drag into position

16. Write in your words Drag it above a Screen Add Titles Chose Title

17. Use Align to Center Text Click on color and size System Fonts

18. Add Titles on each Picture Type words over default words Titles can extend any duration – grab and move, or extend/shorten from ends Drag selection above picture

19. 6. Convert it to a DVD Export it to a Folder (Makes a 1080p Quicktime movie)

20. 6. Convert it to a DVD Open iDVD – choose OneStep DVD from Movie Select Teton Glacier.mov

21. 6. Convert it to a DVD Insert DVD, Burn For multiple DVD’s, it asks if you want another one after the first one is ejected
