  3. Instructor: Marcie Leek • 2 years at NSCC • Also taught at UW, SCCC, the University of Arkansas, and the University of Arizona

  4. Before going in: • 3 days • Lost email! • Process got easier

  5. Visiting the instructor: • Nervous • Messy desk • Organized • Friendly

  6. Lots of information… • 4 essays per quarter • A lot of written homework • A lot of reading • Some quizzes

  7. Into the Classroom! • Friendly interaction • Questions! • Informal presentation • Everyone polite • Lecture and group work

  8. After Going In: • I understood about 65% • Participial adjectives. • Good review! • Difficult: • Teacher talked fast. • Students’ vocabulary.

Comparison: IEP: • Smaller classes • Less formal • Teacher helps more • Limited vocabulary • Not as much reading/writing • Good relationship between students and teachers • Good atmosphere • Bigger classes • Sometimes formal, sometimes not • Teacher helped only when asked (students did more alone) • Academic/extensive vocabulary • More reading/writing • Good relationship between students and teachers • Good atmosphere NSCC:

  10. Conclusion, Part 1: • I learned a lot! • Not afraid of instructors • Learned how to contact instructor • College textbooks • Amount of reading/writing • English 97/98
