  1. ePoster: Co-teaching in a collaborative environment The Orchestrators Kelly Taylor & Russ Simpson Summer 2005

  2. Problem Statement • Secondary orchestra teachers are required to share the classroom with another colleague of equal status, with little or no pre-service training related to collaboration.

  3. Learner and Environment Context • The learners are secondary Orchestra teachers in Gwinnett County Public Schools. • From the learner survey, a question related to pre-service training in the field of collaboration scored very low. Also, the survey indicated they would like this type of training.

  4. Terminal Objective • SWBAT generate a course syllabus by planning cooperatively in a two-person team using strategies for successful co-teaching practice.

  5. Lesson Objective • SWBAT outline and use three types of strategies for resolving conflict in collaborative interactions.

  6. Instructional Strategy • Our overall strategy was to generate a web-based workshop for teachers to take and review as needed • Video was used to provide an overview • Narrated Power Point presentations for new content • Video clips and scenarios were used for learner practice • Discussion boards were used for learner participation and feedback

  7. Lesson Examples • Web Workshop Link

  8. Formative Evaluation • One-on-One interview • Preliminary field trial (one tryout learner) • Field trial (four tryout learners) • Pre-test and Post-test • Post-course survey

  9. Evaluation Recommendations • Narrow the scope of material presented • Alter the web discussion board format • Rewrite the pre- and post-tests to obtain more valid and reliable formative evaluation data
