Current developments of the CLRTAP Gothenburg protocol Stefan Åström, IVL
Current developments of GBG protocol • A final text is being produced by UNECE • EU-countries are preparing to ratify the protocol • The flexibility mechanism in the GBG protocol will not be used by the majority of the countries within the EU • More countries are expected to join the protocol after the finalisation of the revised protocol text • The commitment level of the GBG protocol was set low in an effort to meet a relatively even ambition level of countries • However, the EU countries are raising the ambition levels in the revision of the EU air pollution legislation • UNECE continues to work with PMBC • EU is discussing the possibility to update the amendments of the protocol
