Dos Before you start writing: Read all the questions first before source s Make notes beside Qs Can do 8 marker first – gives overview + ensures that 8 marker is done! Writing your answers: For each Q go through the following steps; 1. Think which type of Q it is. 2. What skills are being tested 3. Read source knowing what you are looking for 4. Make sure you have an introductory ‘big picture’ 5. Use appropriate source recall/ development 6. Additional recall where necessary 7. Come to a conclusion • Don’ts • Write out the question • Be a robot (origin, authorship, purpose) – not always required • Copy out large sections of the source • Say what is says rather than what it means i.e. analyse/ interpret • Answer 4 question types in one question • Miss out any questions • Take too long on one question
General Points • Remember... • Clarity - handwriting as well as simple sentences and pause breaks between sections of your answer • Spelling - do yer best! Particularly with words/names like appeasement, Chamberlain • Time Management • Slang • Abbreviation • Leave spaces between answers to add to later if needed • If stuck - move on to next question • Avoid bullet point type answers
