  2. Hope in action My culminating project demonstrates a concept of humanity in action through a series of snap shots in the art of helping others.

  3. Being called to care • My Friend & I volunteering at The Sold Experience exhibit to educate the community on human trafficking.

  4. Allowing ourselves to engage wholly means that there will be times when we are left feeling far from intact.

  5. Let’s put an end to child soldiers • Informing public policy is one of the most important strategies in ending child slavery. • Support NGO programs that engage and build up youth. • Increase support to government reforms.

  8. Healing the past, Redeeming the present, Changing the future Engedi House is a residential program that offers sexually exploited women long term housing that incorporates a safe and secure home. A safe house for survivors of human trafficking.

  10. Being true to yourself and Being authentic “Is not just a matter of concentrating on one’s own self, but also involves deliberation about how one’s commitments make a contribution to the good of the public world in which one is a participant.” Smith & Smith

  11. Summary of Hope in action What I have learned from this collective active action of hope is this. In many respects the act of listening to a person’s story and showing them that we heard what they said by putting our faith and resources and our abilities into action, speaks volumes in the helping profession and to that said person or the many that follow them. In retrospect we hear you and we are doing something about it. What I have learned with working side by side with other people wanting to make a change or educate a community on local or global issues; or raising money for a cause or just simply saying we are here, we care and we want to make a difference. It’s extraordinary and sometimes overwhelming when a few or a community comes together and express why they are there and what brought them out to help. I felt a common bond with many at a moment in time; it’s unique and very powerful. A person learns that they are not alone in this world and you truly feel the love and generosity that is in a community. I felt I’m a part of something bigger than myself, for me it’s about serving others. I enjoy that, it makes me feel good and selfless internally and that I am serving a purpose and fulfilling a divine plan.
