Why? • To showcase what you have accomplished during high school and your plans for the future. • Required for graduation by Bethel School District
What? • A minimum of 8 hours of Community Connection or Job Shadow related to your post-secondary goals. • A culminating project paper reflecting on how your community connection has impacted your post-secondary plan. • An oral presentation with a multimedia component to show how you have grown during high school and what you are going to do after graduation.
Proposal Letter • Proposal Letter • A statement of your plan to complete your community connection hours. • Describe how your community connection hours will relate to your personal goals and your future career and/or college plans. • Due October 26, 2015
Project • Project • Complete and document a minimum of 8 hours of community connection and/or job shadow. • All 8 hours mustrelate to your personal goals and your future career and/or college plans. • Community Connection hours must be completed by January 22, 2016.
Paper • Paper • A 2-5 page reflective paper on how your community connection experience has impacted your post-secondary plan. Be sure to include: • A description of your community service experiences and how these experiences have impacted you and the community. • An analysis of how the community service experience relates to your post-secondary plan. • A meaningful link between experiences and self.
Step 3 - Paper • First Draft due February 8, 2016 • Revised and Edited copy due March 11, 2016 • FINAL copy of your paper is due April 22, 2016
Portfolio • You will complete your portfolio. • Collection of evidence documenting skills, knowledge, experiences, accomplishments throughout high school. • Your portfolio is the framework for your presentation. • Your portfolio must be complete before scheduling your presentation (SLC).
Presentation • Senior Presentation • Senior presentations take place during student led conferences May 17, 18, 19, 2016. • Your presentation (student led conference) will be a 15-20 minute oral presentation that includes a multimedia component. • Your presentation will cover your community connection hours, how you have grown during high school, and what you are going to do after graduation.
Honors Distinction Option • Proposal Letter: Include your plans to earn the honors distinction. • Project: Minimum of 24 hours of community connection • Paper: 3 – 6 page reflection and research paper (see rubric) • Portfolio: Add an additional 4 – 6 Best Works and Reflections • Presentation: Oral presentation with multimedia component presented to a panel of 5 people.
