My minibeast The Ulysses Butterfly is found on every continent except for Antarctica. Its scientific name is Papilio Ulysses. It loves living in the rainforests of tropical North Queensland and Papua New Guinea. Like other butterflies, the Ulysses eats nectar from flowers but it doesn’t have teeth! Butterflies do not have a tongue either. They suck up the nectar with a straw like mouth.
How beautiful they are!!! The Ulysses is easy to recognise when it is flying because of it’s beautiful, electric blue wings; in fact it has four wings that overlap. They can camouflage well too, because their body is green and white to match the plants they feed on.
The Ulysses has thousands of lenses in each eye. • It has no lungs. It breathes through little holes on each side of it’s body. • It has green blood YUK! • Uses it’s feet for tasting and it’s antennas for smelling and feeling.
The Ulysses Butterfly is the symbol for tropical North Queensland Another name for this beautiful butterfly is the Blue Mountain Butterfly. WOW!!!!!!!!! A butterfly only lives for 24 hours. What a shame for such a marvelous minibeast!
