Karst. Karsterscheinungen Der Name „Karst“ stammt von slowenischen Landschaft Karst im Hinterland von Triest und bedeutet „steiniger Boden“. Ursache der Verkarstung ist der Lösungsprozess des im Kalk enthaltenen Kalkspats unter der Einwirkung von kohlsäurehaltigem Grund- und Sickerwasser.
