Three divisions of the OT testify of the coming of Jesus (Lk. 24:45; Jn. 5:39). • The Law of Moses: Jesus shall come of the seed of Abraham (Gen. 12:3) fulfilled (Gal. 3:8, 16). Moses refers to Jesus as the future great prophet (Deut. 18:18) and (Jn. 5:46; Acts 3:19ff).
Second division of OT (The Prophets): • Jesus, the seed of David (II Sam. 7:12-16; Matt. 1:1, 6; Lk. 1:30ff; Acts 2:29-31). • Jesus called Immanuel (Isa. 7:14; Matt. 1:18ff) • Born in Bethlehem (Micah 5:2; Matt. 2:1-6). • To be king of His kingdom (Isa. 6:5; Jer. 23:5-7; Jn. 12:36ff; 18:33-37). • Jesus would bear the sins of mankind (Isa. 53:4-6; Heb. 9:27-28). • Jesus sold for 30 pieces of silver (Zech. 11:12; Matt. 26:14-16)
Third division of OT (The Psalms): • Jesus would come of the seed of David (Ps. 132:11). • Jesus to be raised from the dead (Ps. 16:9-11). • Jesus known as the “Son of man” (Dan. 7:13; Matt. 8:20; 26:64).

The resurrection testifies the reality of Jesus: • Jesus spoke of His resurrection before it happened (Matt. 12:40, Mk. 8:31; Jn. 2:19). • Paul preached the reality of the resurrection (Rom. 1:3ff) • The church of Jesus Christ testifies to His resurrection (cf. Acts 2:47; 3000 souls were added to it due to the testimony of the apostles {I Cor. 15:1-5}). • The NT is proof of the resurrection of Jesus. Jesus fulfilled His promise to send the Holy Spirit after his resurrection to the apostles (Lk. 24:49; Jn. 14:25). The apostles, in turn, wrote the words of the NT (Eph. 3:1-5) • Baptism (Rom. 6:3-5; Col. 2:12).
The humanity of Jesus: • Jn. 1:1-3; 14-15; 29-30 • “He emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of men” (Phil. 2:7).
The deity of Jesus: • Jn. 1:1, 14-15; 29-30 • Only deity could say, “which of you convicts me of sin?” (Jn. 8:46). • Isa. Refers to Jesus as “mighty God” (9:6) • Again, Isa. Refers to Jesus as “Immanuel” (7:14) • Jesus claimed His deity (Lk. 5:20-25; Jn. 8:58 {Ex. 20:26-28}; 10:29-33; 17:17) • Thomas proclaimed the deity of Jesus (Jn. 20:26-28). • Paul proclaimed the deity of Jesus (Col. 2:9; Titus 2:13). • The author of Hebrews proclaimed the deity of Jesus (Heb. 1:8).
What does Jesus offer? • First, Jesus offers freedom from sin (Jn. 8:31-34). • Secondly, Jesus offers citizenship in the kingdom of God (Acts 2:47; Eph. 2:19-21). • Thirdly, Jesus offers an eternal home with God at the end of life’s journey (Heaven). • Sin separates from God (Isa. 59:1-2) and no sinner will be in heaven (Rev. 21:27). The blood of Jesus sets men free of sin (Matt. 26:28); the gospel reveals the power of the blood of Jesus (Rom. 1:16) and instructions as to how to receive the “remission of sins” (Acts 2:38).
Conclusion: • Both the OT and NT testify the reality of Jesus. • When Jesus came into the world, He testified of His deity and Messiah-ship • The resurrection testifies the reality of Jesus • Though Jesus occupied flesh, He was deity • The sacrifice of Jesus provides freedom from sins, citizenship in the kingdom of God (church) and hope of an eternal home with God in heaven. • Have you taken advantage of the saving blood of Jesus?
