How can the watershed plan help your goals? • Public education • Help meet 30% N reduction • Framework/background for decisions to improve water quality • Preservation of land, projects to slow impacts from developing rural area • Clean water • Help with drainage maintenance • Identify projects in urban areas
What is a Successful Outcome of Planning Effort? • Implement demonstration projects • Doable plan that all parties can support • Projects to improve water quality & aesthetics of area • Municipal participation in preserving aquatic resources • Improve water quality • Education
What must happen to make it worth your time to help implement the plan? • Meet mitigation needs • Assist with public education and local buy-in for projects • Help with Phase 2 permit • SWCD Board allows staff time • Help with Tar-Pam rules (including retrofits) • Work with landowners & groups, show benefit to landowners • Ability to purchase easements or land for projects ($$) • A plan that could address issues and requirements of municipality
