  6. REFEREE Now requires much more practical work to be completed and recorded by candidates, and; Exam for underpinning knowledge 6

  7. CLUB TIMEKEEPER New discipline No Lower Age Limit – to get young people involved in officiating - all will go onto the ASA database. WHAT’S INVOLVED? YOU MUST BE REGISTERED, COMPLETE A WORKSHOP SESSION (Workbook for underpinning knowledge), and; UNDERTAKE POOLSIDE ASSESSMENT. COST: £25 per course up to 10 people. 7

OFFICIALS PATHWAY QualificationLevel of Competition Club Timekeeper (not a pre-requisite for Judge) Club / County / Regional Judge Level 1 as above plus National Judge Level 2 as above Starter as above Referee as above Pre-FINA Referee Pre-FINA Starter as above FINA Referee FINA Starter International Events 11

  12. TRANSFERRING TO THE NEW STRUCTURE TIMEKEEPER retains current ASA qualification JUDGE reclassified as Judge Level 2 STARTER reclassified as Judge Level 2 (S) REFEREE reclassified as British Swimming Referee

  13. ADMINISTRATION Done at Regional Level (Through County Officials Co-ordinator Alan Withers) By Volunteer tutors and mentors New type of certificates will be issued Database maintained by asa 13

  14. LICENSING OF OFFICIALS Officials qualified as Judge or above may have become licensed before 31st December 2007 Future requirements to become and remain licensed will be a bit more demanding Required for officiating at any National event 14
