  5. Things you need to do: • Name the country • Give the population • Show the country on a map • Show a popular tourist destination of the country • Give a daily menu example of their food – breakfast, lunch, snack, dinner and dessert • Do a calorie and nutrient breakdown of their food – explain what you think that mean for their countries health • Give a meal tradition or etiquette rule for eating in the country • Give something else the country is known for or fun facts

  7. Bojo cake • Bakbana Total daily calorie intake was approximately 1700 calories Didn’t look into fresh fruits available in the area – locals probably eat more fruits and vegetables than what was stated in the chart Overall health of the country is probably pretty good considering they lead fairy active lives within the jungle

  8. Meal tradition: Suriname is known for making lots of different drinks and they drink often throughout the day (non-alcoholic) such as tea, coffee, soft drinks and juices • a local favourite is called “mauby” and made from the bark of a local tree then sweetened, boiled and strained • made from buckthorn bark from the colubrinaelliptica and said to resemble the taste of rootbeer

  9. Fun facts: • the official language of Suriname is Dutch and they use the Suriname Dollar. One Surinamese Dollar is about the equivalent of 33 cents in Canadian Dollars • Tropical rainforests make up 80% of their landscape • Their main export is bauxite which is an aluminum ore
