Test Bench for AGATA at CEA Saclay Purpose: • Integration of AGATA detectors in triple modules • Acceptation tests of triplets (energy resolution, crosstalk,…) • Complementing the scanning table in Orsay Further possibilities • Validation of Ge crystals from Eurysis (construction phase beyond demonstrator) • Validation of R&D on cryogenics on reference detectors • … Planning: • Construction of the test bench started : cryogenics, slow control, digital electronics, safety… • First tests with a reference AGATA detector in summer 2006 • Commissioning of the installation with analogue and digital electronics in the fall 2006 • Training of local technician and engineer • Training on Ge crystal test procedure in Köln • First triplet integration possible from late 2006/early 2007

Test Bench for AGATA at CEA Saclay Technical resources: • Dedicated laboratory (expendable) • 10 TNT cards (operational sept. 2006) • Signal conversion boxes (CSNSM Orsay), video cables, PC • NIM crate with analogue signal processing • LN2 supply and automatic filling procedure of detectors • Slow control (temperature interlock, automate…) • Pumping system • Radioactive sources • Personnel : • scientific coordinator: Andreas Görgen • project coordinator: Julien Pancin • post-doc: Joa Ljungvall • 1 technician at 100 % on the detectors (assembly and tests) • 1 technician at 20 % on slow control • 1 engineer at 50 % for management, checking of test procedures…
