SIU - Benefits • Provides necessary functions for Windows integration with TimeFinder and SRDF • Lists volume and disk information • Mounts and dismounts volumes • Saves, edits, and restores disk signatures • Masks and unmasks Symmetrix devices • Lists the openhandles on a volume • Rescans the host for new disk devices • Performs some VERITAS VM functions

SIU – New Improvements • Support for MSCS clusters • In the past, SIU was not supported with MSCS • SIU still does not permit operations on the quorum disk • Improvements for IA64 support • SIU is still a 32 bit application, so it runs in compatibility mode • Still does not support GPT partitions (new in 64 bit Windows). • Still requires an RPQ

TEIM - Benefits • Supports Exchange 5.5/2000/2003 and SharePoint Portal Server V1.0 • TimeFinder is magnitudes faster than backup to tape • Hot Split capability eliminates service disruptions • Disaster recovery in minutes not hours • Backups managed from a central location • Multiple BCVs supported for revolving backups • EMC Snap and SRDF supported as well • Integrates with Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS)

9. TEIM - New Features • Support of SRDF with VSS • Only supports STD ► R1-BCV ► R2 ► BRBCV • VSS is used to create the R1-BCV and then regular TEIM takes over • R1 ► R2 ► RBCV is NOT supported • Will require significant changes to the VSS provider

TEIM – Additional Notes • TEIM V3.6 and later supports MSCS with VSS • Requires the Microsoft VSS hotfix rollup (KB833167) • Reflected in new release notes which are being posted • TEIM with VSS requires all hosts to be Enterprise Edition • Standard Edition is not supported due to dependency on transportable snapshots (restricted to Enterprise Edition by MS) • IA64 • Exchange 2003 is not supported on the 64-bit version of Windows 2003 Server (including in 32-bit mode)

TSIM - Benefits • Backups of SQL 2000 via Virtual Device Interface (VDI) database snapshot functionality with no impact on the production server • Single or multiple database backups/restores in one command • Supports SQL filegroup backup and restore • Enables rapid restore • Standby database creation is near instantaneous • Data can be used for decision support or DB maintenance • Support for both client and server operation

TSIM - New Features • Local TSIM Backup • TSIM run on production server • Concurrent local and remote BCV/VDEV backup • Both the local and remote mirrors are split simultaneously with the same VDI session. • Allows the differential database backup to be applied to both the local and remote standby database

TSIM - New Features • Remote TSIM Backup (Client/Server Mode) • TSIM run on a separate backup server • Multiple BCV and Concurrent BCV support • Automate the database/filegroup restore with relocation • Allows the database/filegroup to be restored to a new path or name • SQL Server Instance Backup • Backup all databases from the SQL Server instance • Restart the standby SQL Server instance normally or detach all of the user databases to allow the user database to be recovered into standby/norecovery mode. • Improved IA64 Support • TSIM is still a 32 bit application, so it runs in compatibility mode with restrictions • Client/Server mode is not supported • Still requires an RPQ

16. General Improvements • Support for VERITAS Storage Foundation 4.0 for Windows • Everything except TEIM with VSS is supported.
