About The Program (1). Primary objective is to encourage talented women undergraduates to pursue graduate study and research careers in CS. 10 weeks summer program (2002 – 2005). 8 students, mostly women, from 2 and 4 year colleges. Team projects, 2 students and a faculty member per team.

About The Program (1) • Primary objective is to encourage talented women undergraduates to pursue graduate study and research careers in CS. • 10 weeks summer program (2002 – 2005). • 8 students, mostly women, from 2 and 4 year colleges. • Team projects, 2 students and a faculty member per team. • Intelligent information processing and management focus.
About The Program (2) • Emphasis on communicating research results through informal and formal presentations. • 3-4 special events including a visit to a major research lab. • Weekly social activities. • Strong exposure to women mentors and role models.
Summer 2002 ProgramApplicants’ Profile • 15 applicants; 11 from OU and 4 from other universities. • 9 CS major, 6 CE major • 9 males, 6 females • GPA ranged from 3.1 to 4.0 with median of 3.5

Achievements • One journal and two conference papers have been submitted. • One conference paper has been presented. • One student has joined the graduate program at Oakland, and has applied for NSF Graduate Fellowship. • One student wants to come back for another summer of REU experience. • More faculty are interested in mentoring.
