  19. Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand of Spain provided the money for Columbus to explore.

  20. In 1469, Isabelle and Ferdinand, 18 and 17 years old were married. They were from different parts of Spain, and their marriage eventually resulted in a united Spain. They were kind of like the Brad and Angelina of the 15th century. Really.

  21. Ferdinand and Isabella wanted a united, Christian Spain. This required converting or kicking out people that were Jewish or Muslim. They took some of these people’s money and used it to fund a crazy scheme…
